It is one of the best kept secrets of Modesto, located on McHenry Avenue, just north of Bowen, nestled between China Express and Teriyaki Chicken Bowl. The extensive lunch and dinner menus guarantee your palate will be satisfied. Check out the Dim Sum menu also---it has over fifty items, including Chinese congee, to choose from. Its hard to find Authentic Chinese food in the valley. The thing I love about New Hong Kong is how friendly and how delicious the food is. The food is prepared with lot's of love. They really do use top grade ingredients. Most chinese restaurant's just add a little color and low grade spices to there food, with New Hong Kong Restaurant you will NOT find that problem, I promise you that. There food taste great! I recommend this Restaurant its happiness waiting for you!

I recommend Repainting it to a BRIGHT BLOOD CRANBERRY RED or some kind of MATTE' GOLD or even just a nice upscale CREAM COLOR that would be INVITING, WHICH WOULD REALLY SET THE MOOD OF TRUE ASIAN COLORS OF "BLACK, RED & GOLD" WITH THEIR ACCENTED DECOR TO TIE EVERYTHING IN.
OTHER THAN THAT ... I GIVE THIS RESTAURANT FIVE (5) STARS FOR TRUE AUTHENTICITY IN FLAVORS OF THEIR FOOD. GREAT EATS!!

I've been eating at New Hong Kong every Friday for 17 years straight. If you're a vegetarian, you must try the braised bean curd in black bean sauce. It cannot be duplicated anywhere!!!

I just discovered this restaurant with a friend of mine just a few months ago. Since then, I've gone back several times for lunch and dinner. The food is excellent, and the service is great.
The people are friendly, and always attentative.

My kung fu instructor is from China and L.A. He is VERY discriminating, and doesn't know Shirley & family. But my family has been coming here for years. The master was quite impressed, especially with the dim sum! (I'm partial to the WestLake & Wor Wonton soups!) Everything is always good and quite reasonable. And they never seem to have a bad day. This is the jewel of Modesto.

We've been looking for a good chinese restuarant in Modesto for the last couple of years; We have tried many and finally found a favorite.
Shirley, the owner is a gracious and welcoming host even if you're getting take out! We had a prawn and scallop dish, a singapore noodle dish and mongolian beef. All dishes were fresh and delicious;
Pot stickers were moist and full of flavor. The almond cookies are delightful. We look forward to our next visit! Colleen, Bob and Sam Winters

For a while, I thought this restaurant was closed. Now it has reopened. The current owner had expanded the interior and repainted/redecorated. I'm not a big fan of the current decorations/colors with fluorescent lighting. But I appreciate the attempt made to improve on the decor. The food is good. There's Dim Sum now - it's the order from menu type of dim sum. Definitely improving!?
